Lea is a Geologist by profession with over 9 years’ extensive experience in diamond, uranium and gold mining, both in exploration and mine production.
Lea spent a greater part of her profession at Debmarine Namibia, a subsidiary of the De Beers Group. At Debmarine, her role was to provide geological support whilst managing Debmarine’s biggest mining vessel, Mv Mafuta, which at the time was producing 40% of the company’s total annual production. During her tenure, the vessel consistently achieved the set targets. In addition to her production geology responsibilities, she worked on the mining parameter model, a very critical input into mine planning, and allocated the minable resources to the different mining vessels. Furthermore, she was involved in various mining projects aimed at de-risking the mine plans as well as audit mining projects, which provides inputs into mining tools development. She has experience in risk analysis, resource estimation of both new and reclamation resources, resource reconciliation and ore body modeling among others.
Before joining Debmarine, Lea was involved in exploration and production geology at Langer Heinrich Uranium, and her role included managing mining and drilling contractors.
Lea is passionate about mining, finance and investment. In 2018, she took off from work to pursue a Master of Science in Finance and Investment Management at the University of Aberdeen in Scotland where she graduated with a Distinction.
